Australian Natural Pink Blue Topaz - Innerscape Abstract Object - 49.84ct
This is a very interesting natural pink blue topaz from the O'Briens Creek gemfields in North Queensland. The colours in this topaz are light and the camera isn't really picking them up to best effect. The topaz from this location can exhibit a very particular colour zoning arrangement. The blue zone usually runs across the middle as a bar from left to right when looking down the main C axis. Either side of this blue bar is usually clear. However sometimes this will be a light champagne pink! So the colour zoning is actually pink-blue-pink and is very attractive and delicate.
This topaz also has some natural rutile needle inclusions that appear like a horse tail or comet tail. They seem to run in particular directions that coincide with the colour zoning. Must be something about the way a crystal grows. This topaz would make a great specimen for the mineral collector or avid gemmo.
