I am a gem artist and merchant specialising in the precision faceting and carving of beautiful gemstones. My work ranges from the traditional faceting of classic designs through to the just plain strange. I like to experiment, explore ideas and techniques and to try things out. Only that way can I discover something truly unexpected and delightful.
So I invite you to discover a refreshing new way of looking at these small and amazing wonders of the natural world. Gemstones are colour incarnate and there is nothing else quite like them, except perhaps a butterfly's wing.

Curvatures
Sinuous curves create evocative forms where light and colour come together to move and captivate in ways that are truly beautiful and mesmerising to behold. There is beauty in their reflections and how the light travels across and beneath their surfaces. Embracing soft lines and a gentle feel, they are an embodiment of the Yin essence.
Motifs and Stories
A series of miniature sculptures drawing inspiration from traditional Japanese and Asian motifs and stories as well as from everyday life.
Psychonaut
The initial inspiration for my Psychonaut series came from a scene in one of my favorite movies, Contact, staring Jodie Foster. In one scene Foster's character Ellie is traveling through space and time via wormholes and she is overcome by the sheer awesome beauty and magnificence of the celestial wonders she encounters. At one point she utters the line, "They should have sent a poet". That line has always remained with me and a moment came as I worked on the first Psychonaut sculpture when I saw, there among the myriad stars, planets and wormholes, an astronaut's helmet gazing quietly back at me. Each piece in this collection portrays a heavenly scene and my spacefaring psychonaut.
Innerscapes
Through careful and thoughtful placement of lines, grooves and bubbles, wonderous landscapes appear as if by magic. These invite the viewer to pause and gaze more deeply within the stone while gently teasing the imagination.
Australian Sapphires
Australian sapphires are renown for their unsurpassed beauty and individual character. With a range of vivid hues - blues, greens, golden yellows and the distinctively unique parti-colours - they truly are as stunning as the outback landscape in which they are found.
